KEY ON-GOING PROJECTS:

  • • The South Capitol Street (Frederick Douglass ) Bridge Design Build Project, SE with HNTB as Prime Consultant. – This new bridge construction project is one in a series of projects under the umbrella of the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative (AWI) Program. The program is transforming the shores of the Anacostia River from the Tidal Basin to the city’s northeast border with Maryland into a world-class waterfront. Project Start: Summer 2017; Project Completion: End of 2021

    • Anacostia Freeway Bridges over South Capitol Street, Project, SE

  • PWC Route 28 Widening Phase III Design Build Project. - PWC March 2018 - Sept 2022- $68 Million with Shirley Contracting Company.  - This project is to improve Route 28 solution to ease congestion on the local traffic. Construction consisting of 1.3 miles of roadway widening, converting the existing 4-lane facility to a 6-lane divided section facility from Linton Hall Road to Pennsylvania Avenue. The Project includes structural improvements to the bridge over Broad Run. In addition to the roadway widening, stormwater drainage improvements, stormwater management, traffic signals, utility relocations and betterments, modification to the Route 28 Bridge over Broad Run, right-of-way acquisition, maintenance of traffic services and water line improvements will be provided by Shirley Contracting Company. Construction has began in August 2019 and is expected to end in the spring of 2022.

CKI  serves as the independent Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) for the Project and manages the construction quality assurance program to ensure that the Project meets or exceeds VDOT’s Minimum QA/QC Requirements.

 

  • I-395 Express/Toll Lanes Northern Extension Project - VDOT Oct 2016 - Oct 2019 - Estimated Construction Cost 386 Million. With HNTB as Prime. Multimodal solution to ease congestion on the traffic-clogged interstate I-395 to Washington DC. Proposed improvement would move people traveling Toll Express lanes and enhance connectivity and new travel option to extend the I-95 Express Lanes along I-395 from Edsall Road to the 14th Street Bridge. 

  • MTA- Purple Line - MTA November 2016 - March 2022 - Estimated Cost of Construction $1.5 Billion. With the HNTB as Prime. Purple line is a light-rail public transit that will extent from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County in MD. The purple line will connect to the Red, Green and Orange Metro Lines, as Amtrak and MARC commuter rail Stations.

  • Transform I-66 Project (inside the Beltway) - VDOT – ​April 2017 - Oct 2022 – Estimated construction cost $2 billion.  With the ATCS-CH2Hill J V as prime. Multimodal solutions to ease congestion on the traffic-clogged Interstate 66. Proposed improvements would move more people, enhance connectivity and provide new travel options on I-66, from I-495 (the Capital Beltway) to U.S. Route 29 in Rosslyn.

  • Rehabilitation of the historic Francis Scott Key Bridge over the Potomac River Georgetown, NW, Washington D.C. (in collaboration with AECOM as prime) ​- DDOT ​ – March  2016 to March 2018
